Speaker Biographies Affirming the Faith Seminar 2022
Donnie Bates is originally from McCurtain County, Oklahoma. He is a graduate of the Bear Valley Bible Institute, holding a bachelor's and master's degree from that institution. He is married to his wife, Noma and they have one daughter, Jessica. He and his family have served congregations in Colorado, Texas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Donnie and Noma also served as missionaries in Chile, South America. Currently, Donnie is the Dean of Academics and an instructor at the Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver, Colorado. He also serves as one of the shepherds of the Bear Valley Church of Christ.
Jeremie Beller has served as the Congregational Minister for the Wilshire Church of Christ in Oklahoma City since 2002. He received his undergraduate degree in Bible and Biblical languages, as well as his MDiv from Oklahoma Christian University. In 2014 he completed a PhD in Communication from Oklahoma University studying Religion and Racism. Along with his work with Wilshire, Jeremie serves as an adjunct professor at Oklahoma Christian where he has taught Bible, Homiletics, and Communications courses. Jeremie's wife, Delaina, teaches 4th grade at Oklahoma Christian Academy and they have one son (Keaton) and one daughter (Kayden).
Allen Dutton Jr.
Allen Dutton Jr. finished his M.D. degree in 1987 and his specialization in Ophthalmology in 1990 from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He finished his M.A. degree in Ministry from Oklahoma Christian University in 1992. Allen married Robin Tomes Dutton in 1991. They have two children, Tyler (23) and Laura (21). Allen has been a full-time medical missionary in Campinas, Brazil since May 1993.
Timothy (Tim) Gunnells is a preacher, professor, and church leadership coach. He is passionate about developing leaders and helping churches. He has served churches in four states and has been involved in ministry for over 30 years. Along with coaching churches and ministers for nearly a decade, Tim also serves as an Associate Professor of Bible, Leadership and Ministry at Amridge University. He received his B.A. in Biblical Studies from Freed-Hardeman University, an MS in Ministry and an MDiv in Christian Ministry both from Amridge University, and a Doctor of Ministry in Church Growth from the Harding School of Theology. Tim and his wife, Kristin, have been married for 25 years and they live in east Tennessee with their four children, and serve as full-time caregivers for Tim's parents.
Tommy Haynes was born in Waco, Texas. He has been married to Kathy Taliaferro for 41 years; they have 3 children & 6 grandchildren. Tommy graduated from the Brown Trail School of Preaching in 1977 and completed further education at Oklahoma Christian. Tommy began preaching at only 14 years old and is currently at Central Church of Christ, where he has been for 32 years. Tommy has published a variety of articles, books, and curriculum. Additionally, he has preached at over 100 gospel meetings and 30 lectureships, as well as participated in 8 stateside and 2 foreign campaigns.
Jeff A. Jenkins has been preaching for more than forty years. He married the former Laura Colley in 1981. Laura passed away in June, 2019. Jeff has two children: Amanda, who is married to Drew Scott, and Jeremy. He has three grandchildren. Jeff holds degrees from Faulkner University, Freed Hardeman University, and has done post-graduate work at Southern Christian University as well as Emory University. He has been the preacher for the Lewisville church of Christ since 2004. He serves on the boards of a variety of Christian organizations and preaches annually at gospel meetings, seminars, and lectureships. Jeff & his brother, Dale, founded The Jenkins Institute in memory of their father. This work is dedicated to encouraging preachers around the world.
Phillip Johnson is in his 17th year as the pulpit minister for the Westside congregation in Norman, OK. He has been married for 27 years to Shannon Winn; they have one daughter, Jalen, who is a freshman at Freed-Hardeman University. Phillip received a degree in Science Education from the University of Oklahoma and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Oklahoma State University. Before entering full-time ministry, Phillip worked as a teacher and administrator in Oklahoma public schools. Phillip has written several Bible study books, has directed a church camp at Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp, and works extensively in the development of young preachers.
Dr. L. Ken Jones serves as the Chancellor Emeritus of Lubbock Christian University. Dr. Jones has a Ph.D. in Engineering from Oklahoma State University and spent a decade in the field of Engineering, before serving as a preaching minister for two congregations. He is a frequent speaker for churches, educational groups, businesses and major corporations on the subject of leadership. He is the author of Leadership After God's Own Heart and The Ultimate Leader. Dr. Jones and his wife Suzie have two married children, two granddaughters and two grandsons. He enjoys reading, writing, speaking, and ranching.
Alan M. Martin has been married since 1979 to his high-school sweetheart, Linda. They have three children and six grandchildren. Alan holds a Ph.D. in Marriage, Family and Child Ecology from Michigan State University. He has been working with various churches to strengthen marriages and families since 1994. Alan has served as an instructor at several universities and is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at African Christian College. Alan currently serves as the Marriage & Family Life Minister at Memorial Church of Christ in Houston, Texas.
Jennifer McKnight is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University and has been a Youth Minister's wife for over 30 years. She has taught History and Leadership at Tecumseh High School and has coached boys and girls tennis at Tecumseh for 20 years. She has also served as a board member for Great Plains Leadership Training for Christ for 20 years. Jennifer is the wife of Brett McKnight and they have three grown children, Jeff, Riley, and Brittany. She and her husband worship with the Westside church of Christ in Norman, Oklahoma.
Tim Pyles received his education in ministry and theology at Lipscomb University: B.A. (1985), M.A. (2000). He has served with churches in Australia, Hawaii, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma. He has been involved in short-term mission efforts in Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Nigeria, Estonia, Ukraine, Honduras, and Mexico. Tim currently serves as the preaching minister for the Broken Arrow (Oklahoma) Church of Christ where he has served since 2009. Tim and his wife Kim have been married for 32 years and have two children: daughter Hannah Kingcade (husband Reece) and son Coleman.
Dr. Harold Redd is a native of Meeker, Oklahoma. He has preached over the past 43 years for congregations in Oklahoma City, West Memphis, AR and Memphis, TN. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian University (BA); Harding School of Theology (MTh); and Abilene Christian (DMin). He is on the Board of Trustees for Harding University and The Christian Chronicle. He currently preaches for the Midtown and Raleigh Springs congregations in Memphis. In addition to his local work, Dr. Redd speaks often at lectureships, conferences, and gospel meetings. He has been married to Joyce Ann Redd for 46 years and they have 9 children and 12 grandchildren. Dr. Redd enjoys reading and learning, gardening and yard work, and watching various sports at multiple levels.
Randy began serving the Edmond Church of Christ in 1994 as the youth minister, and in 2000 transitioned to the role of family minister. In 2011, Randy changed roles again - this time to preaching minister. In his current role, he coordinates the preaching schedule, preaches regularly and is involved in staff leadership and strategic planning for the congregation. Randy holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and a Master's degree in Family Ministry from Oklahoma Christian, and a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Oklahoma. He and his wife, Kerianne, have a daughter named Kaitlyn who has passed on to be with God, and a son named Riley who recently married in January 2021. Both Riley and his new wife, Emma, are students at OC.
Mike Schroeder has been the pulpit minister for the Blue Starr congregation in Claremore for 26 years. Before going into ministry, Mike owned & operated a new home construction business and a commercial roofing business, as well as farming and raising cattle in Missouri. He is a graduate of Sunset International Bible Institute and Sunset School of Missions in Lubbock, Texas. Throughout the years, he has also been certified in various marriage, family, & parenting courses. He has enjoyed several foreign mission trips and campaigns to Scotland, India, Germany, Nigeria, West Africa, and Mexico, as well as gospel meetings in the States. Mike and his wife Debbie, of 47 years, have 4 children and 12 grandchildren. Debbie is an executive administrator for Public Service Company of Oklahoma/American Electric Power.
Drew aka Boo Scott: Tie-loathing outdoorsy type, project starter but not finisher, who believes in self-sufficiency and cryptocurrency. Still questioning how I landed the wife that I have. Current apprentice of beekeeping, daytrading and paranormal activity.
Harold Shank currently works as a consultant with faith-based organizations. He provides services including writing Bible study material, offering support for those working with troubled children and families, preparing videos with the core Gospel message, and helping Christian leaders around the globe to obtain advanced educational degrees in the US. Harold is also the author of numerous books. Harold recently celebrated his 54th year of preaching the Gospel. He has served as president of Ohio Valley University in Vienna, West Virginia; professor at Harding School of Theology and Oklahoma Christian University; and for 32 years he was associated with the Highland Street Church of Christ in Memphis, TN. Harold is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian with a B.A. in Bible. He received his M.A. and M.A.R. from Harding University Graduate School of Religion. His Ph.D. in Theology is from Marquette University.
Paul Shero has preached in San Angelo for the Southgate Church of Christ for 40 years. In his 48 years of ministry, he has preached in 16 states and 16 foreign countries. He is a popular after-dinner and motivational speaker in the West Texas area. He is the son of the late gospel preacher, John Shero, and two of his brothers are also gospel preachers. Paul grew up at the Baker Heights Church and it was there that he met his wife, Patsy. They have 2 daughters, Kimberly Mull and Jennifer Rackley of San Angelo and seven grandchildren.
Evan Todachine (Navajo Indian) is the missionary and Assistant Minister to the church of Christ at Salt River in Mesa Arizona. He is married to his beautiful bride, Crystal (Navajo) and together they have three daughters. Evan graduated from the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver in 2017 with a B.S. in Theological Studies and is continuing his studies currently at Amridge University. Before conversion and applying to Bear Valley, Evan studied Kinesiology at Arizona State University. Since graduating in 2017, Evan and his family have been full-time missionaries to the Native American communities in the Southwest U.S (specifically the Navajos, Apaches and Salt River Pimas). Evan also serves as a board member of Roots Mission - a non-profit brotherhood organization striving to improve mission efforts throughout Reservation lands in the United States.
Bill Watkins is the son of a gospel preacher (James Watkins) and my brother (Alan) and I are both preachers. In 1972, he married Beverly, and has come to love her more every day. They have 5 children and 22 grandchildren. Bill was formally educated at Freed- Hardeman University, David Lipscomb University, Southern Christian University, and Florida International University. Bill was really educated through growing up with 3 siblings; preaching at churches in Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, and Texas; learning from his parents and parents-in-law; observing his wife's willingness and wisdom; and attempting to raise five remarkable and remarkably different children. Bill is one of the ministers of the Crieve Hall Church of Christ since March 6, 2005. He loves being with his family and working with the church. Preaching is not his career. Like being a husband and a father, it is his life-choice and joy.
Darryl Wingo has been the servant Minister at Farrall Street Church of Christ in Shawnee, Oklahoma for the past 15 years. He is married to Rita and they are the parents of three loving children and grandparents of three wonderful grandchildren. Darryl spent 32 years in the Postal Service and 23 years in the Air Force. Both careers were instrumental in preparing him for ministry. Darryl was awarded a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Central State University and a Masters of Human Relations degree from the University of Oklahoma. He received Bible training from the Sunset School of Biblical Studies, Lubbock, Texas.
