Speaker Biographies Affirming the Faith 2020
Jeremie Beller has served as the Congregational Minister for the Wilshire Church of Christ in Oklahoma City since 2002. He received his undergraduate degree in Bible and Biblical languages, as well as his MDiv from Oklahoma Christian University. In 2014 he completed a PhD in Communication from Oklahoma University studying Religion and Racism. Along with his work with Wilshire, Jeremie serves as an adjunct professor at Oklahoma Christian where he has taught Bible, Homiletics, and Communications courses. Jeremie’s wife, Delaina, teaches 4th grade at Oklahoma Christian Academy and they have one son (Keaton) and one daughter (Kayden).
Danny Boggs has been preaching the gospel for almost 30 years. He currently preaches for the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Neosho, Missouri and has been there for 15 years. He is a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University where he met his wonderful wife Jessica. He helps with mission work in Honduras and directs a week at Green Valley Bible Camp in Rogers, Arkansas, every summer.
Dr. Mike Cravens is a Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Tennessee. Currently, as Professor at Freed-Hardeman, he teaches courses in Counseling, Human Sexuality, and was recently named the Director of the new Doctor of Behavioral Health Program. Dr. Cravens received his education from Freed-Hardeman University (A.A.), Harding University (B.A.), University of Nebraska at Lincoln (M.S.), Eastern Michigan University (M.A.), and holds the Doctorate of Human Services (D.H.S.) from Clayton University in St. Louis. He has also completed a second Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. Mike and his wife Sandy have been married 38 years, and have one married son, James (Tracy) and three granddaughters, and twin daughters, Natalie and Nicole. Natalie is teaching Third Grade in Henderson and provides the family some very humorous stories. Nicole is married to Justin Reid and they live in Jackson, TN. The Cravens family attends the Estes Church of Christ in Henderson, TN.
Jerrard A. Davis
Jerrard A. Davis is a native of Columbus, Ohio. He left Columbus in August 1999 to pursue an undergraduate degree at Fisk University. In May 2003, he received his Bachelor’s in Religion and Philosophical Studies. In August 2003, he enrolled in Harding School of Theology in Memphis, TN. He studied under Dr. Harold R. Redd, minister of the Midtown Church of Christ. God used Dr. Redd and the M. A. Scholarship program to equip and train him for ministry. The M. A. Scholarship financially assists and spiritually encourages African American men in their graduate studies. Through the Scholarship Bro. Davis matured as a preacher, teacher and leader. In May 2010, he graduated and received his Master of Divinity. He is married to Sis. Stephannie Davis. They anticipate great blessings as they serve the Spencer Church of Christ in Spencer, OK.
Don DeLukie is the minister for the Sterlington church of Christ, where he is in his 5th year. He & his wife, Jean, reside in West Monroe and he serves the Jackson Street Church in Monroe in his 30th year. (He retired from Jackson Street but still is employed by the church.) He serves with Dr. Dan Coker, Dr. Howard Norton, Paul Shero, Kelly Grant, David Duncan, Jeff Jenkins and Jim Frazier as one of the coordinators of the Pan American Lectureship (the longest running lectureship held outside of the United States among churches of Christ, in its 53rd year). He debated Hamza Abdul Malik, the Director of the Islamic Propagation Center of America on the topic - “Was Christ Crucified?”. This debate is posted on You Tube. He has conducted a number of seminars on “Getting To Know Our Muslim Neighbors”. He and Jean have 4 children and 10 grand-children. Their hobbies include rock collecting, coca cola items, hunting, fishing, and exploring, especially in northern Arkansas.
Russell Dyer has been preaching for over 30 years. He is the son of a preacher and has been a part of the church in Oklahoma since 1957. He is a graduate of Harding University. He has done local work in Tulsa, Minco, Guthrie, and for the past 20 years has worked in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In September, 2000, Russ came to work with the Southern Ridge congregation. In January, 2004, he completed the publication of a book that he co-authored and co-edited. Redeeming the Times addresses issues that are relevant to the church especially in this age. Russ has been married to Paula (Wright) for over 32 years. They have three adult children: Joshua, Talsie, and Mandi Lou.
Ralph Gilmore has been married to the former Joyce Thornton since June 11, 1971. Joyce recently retired from teaching in the Jackson Madison County School System in Jackson, Tennessee. Ralph and Joyce have 4 daughters--Jenny, Jill, Rachel, and Rose, and eight grandchildren. Ralph has an A.A. and a third-year certificate in Bible from Freed-Hardeman University, a B.A. in Bible from David Lipscomb University, an M.A. in Christian apologetics from Harding Graduate School in Memphis, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He served as the pulpit minister at the Campbell St. church of Christ in Jackson, Tennessee for over 23 years. Ralph worked as pulpit minister for the Acton church of Christ in Acton, Tennessee for 2 years. He is now working as an evangelist. Ralph is also distinguished professor of Bible and Interdisciplinary Studies at Freed-Hardeman University where he has served for 37 years. He has preached the gospel for 49 years.
Clint Giltner serves as the preacher for the Sioux Falls church of Christ in Sioux Falls, SD. After graduating from college Clint worked with the Mannford church of Christ, in Mannford, OK for 5 years as their family and involvement minister before moving north to work with the 41st St church of Christ in Sioux Falls in 2015. Last May the two churches of Christ in Sioux Falls united to become the Sioux Falls church of Christ and Clint now preaches for this new congregation. Clint and his wife, Sarah, have three sons: Caleb, Adam, and Simon.
Keith Harris serves as the Preaching Minister at WindSong church of Christ in North Little Rock, AR. He has a wonderful wife (Lindsey), and two great kids (Kade, 14) (Zoe, 12). He has been involved in ministry for over 20 years. He moved to the Little Rock area in 2012 and has enjoyed ministering and serving in central Arkansas. Keith completed his undergraduate studies at Harding University (Searcy, AR) in 2004, and continued his studies, earning a Master’s Degree in Ministry from Harding in 2008, and a second Master’s Degree focusing on Biblical Interpretation from Lubbock Christian University in 2013. After completing his undergraduate studies at Harding in 2004, Keith began serving as Youth Minister at North Heights church of Christ in Batesville, AR. Keith and his family moved to Little Rock in 2012, where Keith served as a minister with the Pleasant Valley church of Christ. Steve Higginbotham has been preaching for 34 years. He is presently the preaching minster at the Karns Church of Christ in Knoxville, TN and is also one of the instructors at the Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies.
Hiram Kemp is a graduate of the Florida School of Preaching (2016) and began his full-time preaching work with the South Florida Avenue church of Christ in June of 2016. He received formal education from Bethune Cookman University (B.S. in Criminal Justice, 2011), Nova Southeastern University (M.S. in Reading Education, 2014), and Freed-Hardeman University (M.A. in Old Testament, 2019). He is a staff writer at plainsimplefaith.com. Hiram and his wife, Brittani, have two children (Nadia and Andre).
Wes McAdams serves as the Preaching Minister for the church of Christ on McDermott Road. Prior to McDermott Road, Wes served congregations in Midland, Texas; Leachville, Arkansas, Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Abilene, Texas. He is the author of a new book, Beyond the Verse. Chris McCurley is the Preaching Minister for the Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene, TX. Chris began in ministry at the North Heights Church of Christ in Batesville, AR as a Youth Minister. After that, he spent 4 years as the Preaching Minister for the Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville, MO. Prior to ministry, Chris was a teacher and head basketball and baseball coach in the Cord-Charlotte School system for 4 years. Chris’ wife Libby is an associate professor in the Kinesiology department at Abilene Christian University. They have 3 wonderful children: Keely (22), Zoe (19) and Zane (18). Both Chris and Libby grew up in Paragould, AR where their families still reside. Chris is editor and co-author of the books Fit for the Pulpit: The Preacher & His Challenges and Preach Better: 10 Ways to Communicate the Gospel More Effectively. He is also Director of Oldham Lane’s annual Preacher Training Camp, which trains young men on how to be an effective preacher of the gospel. In addition, he has a weekly television program entitled Life in the Light that airs each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. on KTAB in Abilene. He also hosts a podcast entitled Dear Church that airs on Facebook, YouTube, iTunes, and Spotify. Chris also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Abilene Wylie Independent School District, and on the board for the Red River Family Encampment.
My family and I have made Oklahoma City, Oklahoma our home since moving from Atlanta, Georgia in June of 1989. Counting courtship and marriage, Sis Montgomery and I have been “sweethearts” for 46+ years and hope to see that many more. Lynda and I are the parents of three adult children (Tonya, Roy Jr. and Roderick) and seven grandchildren, Malik (19yrs.) and Roy III / “cheeky” (16yrs), Caleb (13yrs), Anna (12yrs), Ian 11yrs, Reagan 4yrs and Derek 4yrs). I earned a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies from The American Christian College and Seminary, Oklahoma City, OK in 2004. I retired from GM’s management team after thirty-six years of service. I am a US Army veteran. I have been declaring the gospel of our Lord for 39+yrs. I served under the guidance of Bro. Wesley R. Brown Sr. for 9yrs in Atlanta, GA and with Bro. James H. Mason Jr. for 10yrs in Oklahoma City, OK. I served as the pulpit minister for the Southeast Church of Christ in Clinton, Oklahoma for 5.5 yrs. I have been humbly serving the Estes Park Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in the North Highland and Estes Park additions for the past fourteen-plus years.
Melvin L. Otey has served as an Associate Professor of Law at Faulkner University, Jones School of Law, since August 2014. Prior to this, he worked for the US Department of Justice in Washington, DC, as a trial lawyer (2000-2003, 2007-2014) and preached for the Georgia Avenue church of Christ in DC (2006-2014). Among other things, he writes for Christian publications; conducts Gospel meetings, lectures, and seminars; and serves as a board member for Lads 2 Leaders and the Gospel Journal. He received formal education from St. Louis University (BSBA, 1997), Howard University School of Law (JD, 2000), Amridge University (BS in Ministry/Bible, 2008; MDiv in Ministerial Leadership, 2014). He and his wife, Jania, have two sons, Caleb and Christian. They worship and work with the Dalraida congregation in Montgomery, AL.
Keith Parker has been married to Sandra Daniel Parker for 42 years and has three children: Jeremy (Pete), Ashley and Jessica. He also has five beautiful grandchildren. Keith is a native of Huntsville, Alabama where he began preaching at the age of 17. He attended Freed-Hardeman University where he received a B.A. in Bible and Lipscomb University where he received a Masters in Religion. Keith began his ministry at the Green Forest Church of Christ in Poplar Bluff, Missouri where he preached for 5 years. He then preached at the Maple Hill Church of Christin Lebanon, Tennessee for the next 8 ½ years. Most recently Keith served as the pulpit minister for the Hendersonville Church of Christ in Hendersonville, Tennessee for 16 ½ years. He still makes his home in Hendersonville and for the last 11years has been in full-time meeting work, preaching for about 40 different congregations each year.
Neal Pollard was born in Oxford, MS, and raised in Georgia. He attended Faulkner Univ., Freed-Hardeman Univ., and Bear Valley Bible Institute (B.A., Bible; M.B.S.). He is married to former Kathy Gillaspie and they have three sons—Gary, Dale, and Carl, and a sweet daughter in law, Chelsea. All three of his sons are gospel preachers. Neal has preached full time in Livingston, AL ('92-'94), Mechanicsville, VA ('94-'06), Denver, CO ('06-'19), and in August moved to Bowling Green, KY, to work with the Lehman Avenue church of Christ. He has been involved for many years in preacher training, Bible camp directing, TV work, and lectureship directing. He has preached in 26 states and 9 foreign countries.
Kathy Pollard attended Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL, and the Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver, CO. She holds a bachelor degree in Biblical Studies. She is married to Neal, who preaches for the Lehman Ave. church of Christ in Bowling Green, KY. They have 3 sons (Gary, Dale, and Carl) and a sweet daughter-in-law, Chelsea. Tim Pyles received his education in ministry and theology at Lipscomb University: B.A. (1985), M.A. (2000). He has served with churches in Australia, Hawaii, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma. He has been involved in mission efforts in Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Nigeria, Estonia, Ukraine, Honduras, and Mexico. Tim currently serves as the preaching minister for the Broken Arrow (Oklahoma) Church of Christ where he has served since 2009. Tim and his wife Kim have been married for 31 years and have two children: daughter Hannah Kingcade (husband Reece) and son Coleman.
Dr. Harold Redd is a native of Meeker, Oklahoma. He was baptized by Bro. Elvis Denny and began preaching as a young man. He has preached more than forty-three years for congregations in Oklahoma City (3), West Memphis, AR (16) and Memphis, TN (24). He currently preaches for the Midtown and Ra- leigh Springs congregations in Memphis. In addition to his local work, Dr. Redd speaks often at lectureships, conferences, gospel meetings and etc. Also, he taught Bible in Christian High Schools for twenty years. He taught at Harding Academy in Memphis, TN and West Memphis Christian School in West Memphis, AR. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts in Oklahoma City (BA); Harding School of Theology in Memphis, TN (MTh); and Abilene Christian, University in Abilene, TX (DMin).He has served on numerous boards and is currently on the Board of Trustees for Harding University in Searcy, AR and The Christian Chronicle in Oklahoma City. He has been married to Joyce Ann Redd for forty-six years and they have nine children and twelve grandchildren. Dr. Redd enjoys reading and learning; gardening and yard work; and watching various sports at multiple levels. He is a former baseball player who enjoys playing golf.
Paul Shero has preached in San Angelo for the Southgate Church of Christ for 40 years. During his tenure, the congregation has more than doubled in size and has successfully completed a relocation and new building program of over 5 million. Paul has been a gospel preacher for over 48 years. He has preached in 16 states and 16 foreign countries. He is a popular after-dinner and motivational speaker in the West Texas area. He is the son of the late gospel preacher, John Shero, and two of his brothers are also gospel preachers. Paul grew up at the Baker Heights Church and it was there that he met his wife, Patsy. They have 2 daughters, Kimberly Mull and Jennifer Rackley of San Angelo and seven grandchildren.
Peter Tickner is the preacher for the Macquarie church of Christ in Sydney, Australia. Works as an evangelist especially focusing on “FriendSpeak / Lets Start Talking” program. Graduated from the Macquarie School of Biblical Studies in 1996 and has been at the Macquarie congregation ever since. He and his wife, Claire, have two children, Laura (14) and Jaron (12). He loves the church and loves to share the gospel in the multicultural city in which he lives.
